Membership is annual and runs from January 1 to December 31 of every year in which dues are paid. Use our Application Form here to be added to the ICOM-US database. “ICOM is an international organization of museums and museum professionals” Criteria for membershipMembership in ICOM is open to museums, institutions recognized by ICOM* and museum professionals, according to the criteria laid out in the association’s Statutes: “A museum is a not-for-profit, permanent institution in the service of society that researches, collects, conserves, interprets and exhibits tangible and intangible heritage. Open to the public, accessible and inclusive, museums foster diversity and sustainability. They operate and communicate ethically, professionally and with the participation of communities, offering varied experiences for education, enjoyment, reflection and knowledge sharing.” "After seeking the advice of the Advisory Council, the Executive Board, may recognise other institutions as having some or all of the characteristics of a Museum." "Museum professionals include all staff of the museums and institutions qualifying as museums in accordance with the definition stated within the scope of Article 3, Section 1 and 2 and persons who, in a professional capacity, have as their main activity to provide services, knowledge and expertise for museums and the museum community" All persons and institutions applying for ICOM membership shall agree to
